Agriculture

For habitat creation & environmental schemes

With specialist cleaning and processing equipment, we grow and process environmental species to supply quality seed products to retailers across the UK. Our product range includes wildflower seeds, such as native annuals and perennial species. Our agricultural seed products support the future of farming, taking a holistic approach to environmental sustainability, food production and profitability. Our seed is processed to the highest standards of purity and germination, thanks to our meticulous and bespoke growing and production process and therefore UK retailers can guarantee their customers successful establishment for important environmental and stewardship mixes.

Why is sustainable seed important to the agricultural industry?

For UK seed retailers supplying farming enterprises across the country, it is now more important than ever to consider where and how seed is produced. With net zero on the radar for UK farming, supply chains will come under significant scrutiny in the next few years and therefore sustainable seed will become an important part of this reduction process. Not only will the carbon footprint of the seed play a part but locality will also become a factor for seed production. Wildflower seeds produced by Bradford Green are grown in the UK and as close to the area of use as possible. This is likely to improve establishment results and environmental benefits as the differences between regions has an impact on the requirements and benefits of these species.

Why is sustainable seed important to the agricultural industry?

Our sustainable seed production process starts with our growers. An extension of the Bradford Green operation, the local seed growers use innovation, skill, regenerative practices and new technology to grow wildflower seed crops as sustainably as possible. Our primary focus is to reduce emissions from farm and plant machinery, which is why growers have invested in green energy technology, such as the solar powered FarmDroid which is used to sow and weed our wildflower seed crops. During harvest, the process is undertaken with efficiency in mind, in order to reduce emissions and our impact on the farmland wild life which thrives on our growers’ land. Once the seed is at the Bradford Green site, we use solar power as much as possible to generate power for cleaning the wildflower seed crops, producing not only an extremely pure sample, but a sustainable seed product.
